Affordable House Clearance Prices – What to Expect & How Much It Costs

How our house clearance prices work

We calculate every job based on the volume of items, the type of waste, the labour required, and the distance from our base in Bedfordshire. Every quote is free, fixed and agreed before we start, with no hidden fees. You only pay for the space your items take in our van.

Updated Guidance on the Disposal of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)

As of 1st January 2023, new legislation concerning the handling of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) has come into effect. Under these regulations, materials containing POPs can no longer be recycled or sent to landfill. Instead, they must be disposed of through incineration.

This applies to upholstered furniture such as sofas, armchairs, office and dining chairs, footstools, futons, beanbags, and cushions. Both households and businesses are impacted by these changes.

Owing to these regulatory requirements, any waste identified as containing POPs must now be managed separately. Please note that this type of disposal will incur additional charges – details can be found below.

Helping You Keep House Clearance Prices Down

When providing quotes and carrying out house clearances, we always aim to keep your expenses to a minimum. You may be able to reduce costs even further if any items of value are found during the clearance, as these can be offset against the overall fee.

In some cases, if valuable belongings are uncovered, we may even pay you to clear the property. So before throwing anything away, it’s worth getting in touch with us first.

Our service is often more cost-effective than hiring a skip. Not only do you avoid the cost of the skip itself, but you also won’t need to arrange or pay for any necessary permits. On top of that, we handle all the heavy lifting—saving you time, effort, and mess.

We pride ourselves on delivering excellent service, and we’ll even give the space a general tidy-up and vacuum once the clearance is complete.

Q1. What is the average cost of a house clearance in Bedfordshire?

The average cost of a house clearance in Bedfordshire is usually between £160 and £480, depending on how much you need us to remove. Smaller clearances such as a single room or part of a house typically start from around £160, while full house or probate clearances that fill our van can be £340 to £480. Every job is priced individually, and we always confirm a fixed quote before any work starts.

Q2. Do you charge for quotes?

No, all our quotes are completely free and without obligation. You can send us photos by WhatsApp or arrange a visit, and we will give you a clear, fixed price before we book the job. There are no call out fees and no hidden extras, so you know exactly what you will pay before we begin the clearance.

Q3. How quickly can you clear a house?

In most cases we can clear a house the same day or the next day, especially in Bedfordshire and the nearby areas that we cover regularly. For larger clearances or probate work, we can arrange a date and time that fits your schedule, with morning or afternoon slots available. If you need an urgent or same day house clearance, contact us and we will always do our best to fit you in.

Q4. What items do you not collect?

We can remove most household, garage and garden items, including furniture, appliances and general rubbish. However, there are a few things we cannot collect or that may require special arrangements, such as:

  • Asbestos and materials suspected of containing asbestos

  • Gas bottles and certain pressurised containers

  • Paint, chemicals and hazardous liquids

  • Clinical or medical waste

  • Large quantities of soil, rubble or hardcore that are more suitable for a skip

If you are not sure about any items, just ask us. We will let you know what we can take, whether there are any extra recycling charges, or suggest the best alternative.

Q5. Is it cheaper than a skip?

For most house clearances, using Trash-T LTD is often cheaper and easier than hiring a skip. You only pay for the space your items take in our van, and our team does all the lifting and loading for you. You also avoid skip permits, access issues and restrictions on what you can put in the skip.

The only time a skip might work out cheaper is if you have a large amount of one heavy material such as soil, rubble or hardcore. For mixed household or garden items, a professional house clearance service is usually better value and far more convenient.
